Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Park

On 26th September 2010 the MBCC hosted the 2010 XC Marathon Champs in Ballyhouras Mountain Park, Cork. This event is currently in the planning stages for the 2011 installment. Keep an eye here for details. Details of the 2010 event are below!

The Ballyhouras has 90km of man-made single track built and managed by coillte It also has 100s of kilometers of fireroad and natural single and double track to test the metel of the most experienced of riders and we’ll be using the best of it!

The course is approximately 65km long taking in the best of what the Ballyhouras has to offer. Expect to pushed to your limits on the climbs and also on the descents. Choose your bike wisely, this is no simple sunday spin, food, water and repair tools will be essential to get you home. Marshals will be on the course at keep spots to keep you ontrack. The start finish area will be on the fire road just above the official Coillte car park.

The Mini-Marathon course is provided for the less hard core riders and is approximately 25km long and features single track and fire road climbs and natural and man-made single track descents. The start finish area will be on the fire road just above the official car park. The Mini-Marathon will be a mass start and starts 30min after the full marathon starts.
Parking

Parking on the day will be in official Coillte car park. Space is limited so marshals will be on hand to help pack ye in so please follow their directions. An over flow car park in a near by field will also be available if the need arises.

    The race route profile for the mtb champs looks like a tough one, should be a good day out. Roll on Sunday.

    Love the video from the National Mountain Bike Championships, looks like a tough event so better get training to have a crack at it in 2011.
